Prayer after Rejection
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him” (vv. 25-27).
Jesus has come and miraculous events have followed. Think about it, the lame are walking, the blind are seeing, the deaf are hearing, the lepers have been cleansed, the storms have been calmed, the hungry have been fed, the sick healed, and the demon-possessed have been freed. In addition to all of that, he has come and delivered the Kingdom message of peace and salvation. Yet, there are people who want more!
Do you have family, friends, neighbors, classmates, or co-workers who are never satisfied. No matter what you do or say, it is never enough. Perhaps, they attend your church, or they are members of your small group. They grumble and complain because God is not answering their prayer. They cannot understand why that group always seems to prosper and they do not. Their favorite words are: “It’s just not fair!”
Jesus would have us take God at his word. He would have us trust him, as a small child trusts their parent. The child knows their mother will not abandon them. The child knows their father will protect them. Jesus wants us to know: Our God hears and answers prayer. Only Trust and Obey!Tags: Bob, Church Blog, Pastor Bob, Pastors Blog
