Change! Most of us think nothing of it, until it happens to us… Change is tough! We like things to carry on just the way they always have. But change happens. These are days of change at New Hope Community Church. Sudden change at that. One week ago, Sandie Kay was sitting in the office answering phones, making sure the greeters were in place for the following Sunday, planning the schedule for the baristas in the coffee bar, contacting Andy with prayer requests, putting stamps on correspondence… Today, she is in heaven! She has experienced the most amazing transformation, one we all look forward to with anticipation. She has changed her address.
We are left having to change responsibilities. Who will take her place? Who can fill her shoes? Or, do we need to change everything and go in a different direction? Questions fill our minds. And, at the same time, we experience the loss of a friend and partner in ministry.
Here is what I know and cling to: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
We begin a new calendar year with the promise of God’s continued presence in the face of real change. We have the promise of his provision. WE WILL TRUST IN HIM!
